This evening after the shopping was done, the kids and I stopped by the store’s cafe and purchased Chinese take-out. Usually we eat at a restaurant, but the hour was late, and hey, fourteen bucks for two pints of entrees, two pints of rice, and egg rolls was a deal I couldn’t refuse.
I wish I had. Normally I open the carton and dive in head-first, but tonight I used manners and cut the large chunks of General Tso chicken with my fork. I was horrified at what I saw. Beneath the spicy goodness of the crust, the chicken was raw. Sushi ranks high on my taste buds, but raw poultry? No thanks.
The last time I went to a burger joint (several years ago) I got a sandwich with a bite taken out of it. My mommy taught me to share, but swap spit with an unknown person? I don’t think so.
After these two incidents, I’m considering becoming a vegetarian.

ewwwww never fun to experience raw food!
I hear ya! LOL.
Ew – that’s disgusting. Good thing you checked. What did they say?
They had a fit when I called. They asked that I come back immediately with the food. I thought the manager was going to toss his cookies when he saw the chicken and found out the deli had sold that same dish to numerous people. He returned my money, then told me if any of my family became ill, to go to the ER and charge the bill to the store.
We feel okay, and it’s been sixteen hours since the raw chicken fiasco. Last night I bought my youngest a Kid’s Cuisine in the frozen food aisle, and he wanted that rather than the Chinese Food. Thank goodness for that!

That’s awful. Glad it turned out okay and you got your money back. Our newspaper used to run health department reports on area restaurants and I noticed that Chinese restaurants always ended up with the lowest scores.
Thanks. Me too.
At least they weren’t jerks about it – glad it all worked out.
Just avoid restauraunts! I worked in one as a teen and only now go grudgingly to them!
